WRWC is excited to share the Explore the Woonasquatucket Greenway Illustrated Map, a colorful celebration of the places, people, nature, and stories that make the Greenway special.
A Greenway Worth Exploring
Stretching alongside the Woonasquatucket River, the Greenway connects people to parks, neighborhoods, recreation, natural spaces, and pieces of Rhode Island history.
Sophie’s illustrated map brings those connections together on a single page. From local wildlife and river landscapes to community landmarks and the culture of the neighborhoods along the Woonasquatucket.
Art Inspired by Rivers and Communities
The map was created by Rhode Island illustrator Sophie Foulkes, whose artwork explores the connections between rivers, landscapes, and the communities they help shape.
That perspective makes the Woonasquatucket a natural subject for her work. The river has shaped the communities along its banks for centuries, while those communities have shaped the river in return. Today, the Woonasquatucket River Greenway tells that story through its parks, restored natural spaces, historic landscapes, neighborhoods, public art, and the people who use it every day.
