Janet Coit, outgoing Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management Director, is heading to a new challenge as the head of the National Marine Fisheries Service. The Providence Journal asked Janet what she sees as her legacy: “The historic improvements in water quality in the Bay that were largely driven by the DEM, certainly. The revitalization of the Woonasquatucket River corridor in partnership with community groups is another.”
We are grateful for Janet’s support and enthusiasm–her leadership and RIDEM’s partnership have made a transformative difference in our work. Janet, you have been an amazing friend to the WRWC! We will miss you and we will be cheering for you in your new role.
