The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC) is excited to announce a new opportunity to join our team as Nuestros Bosques (NB) Program Coordinator. This part-time position (25–30 hours per week) is a chance to be at the forefront of community-led urban forestry, environmental justice, and neighborhood resilience in Providence’s Olneyville community and beyond.
Funded through the Hispanic Access Foundation, the Nuestros Bosques: Reforestation, New Trees, and Capacity to Sustain program is all about expanding Providence’s urban forest while empowering local residents. Through this work, WRWC and our partners are planting trees, restoring habitat, and building community leadership to ensure a healthier, greener future.

What You’ll Do
The Program Coordinator will play a key role in bringing this program to life by supporting both the people and the projects that make Nuestros Bosques possible. Responsibilities include:

Building and nurturing strong relationships with community members, staff, and partners

Coordinating program tasks, roles, and goals to keep everyone on track

Supporting administrative systems for project tracking, reporting, and collaboration

Helping run cohort-based programming, including trainings, events, and stipends

Serving as a liaison between WRWC teams, community tree leaders, and contracted partners

Ensuring all communications are clear, bilingual (Spanish & English), and accessible

Supporting robust community engagement and advancing tree equity across watershed neighborhoods
This role is both community-facing and detail-oriented—ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of organizing, administration, and environmental justice.
What We’re Looking For
Required:

Full bilingual fluency in Spanish and English

Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends
Desired:

Lived experience in frontline urban neighborhoods

Leadership or administrative experience in environmental/community work
-
Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and collaboratively

Experience empowering community leaders and fostering advocacy

Strong communication skills and comfort with business applications
Preferences: Applicants with lived or professional experience in Woonasquatucket River communities (Providence neighborhoods such as Olneyville, Manton, Hartford, Valley, Silver Lake, Elmhurst, and Smith Hill, as well as surrounding towns) will be given preference.
Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $25/hour, 25–30 hours per week
