The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council was proud to take part in Cox Impact Day on June 12, 2025. It was a meaningful celebration of the incredible nonprofit work happening across Rhode Island, and we were honored to be there among so many amazing organizations doing important work in our communities. We’re especially grateful to Cox Communications for their continued support of WRWC and so many others.
This year, the Rhode Island Senate and House of Representatives officially proclaimed June 12 as “Cox Impact Day” in recognition of Cox’s charitable leadership in the state. The day celebrates the impact of nonprofits across areas like environmental sustainability, youth and K-12 education, civic and community engagement, diversity, and technology access.
Cox has been a valued partner to WRWC over the years. Their Tech Boosts grants have helped us strengthen our technology tools, and they’ve supported events like Earth Day and our Bandalong Bandit litter trapper. They also connected us with the James M. Cox Foundation, whose generous funding helped us launch the Leo Bouchard Conservation Center in Smithfield.
Since 2001, Cox Charities has invested more than 11 million dollars in grants and in-kind support to nonprofits offering STEAM enrichment for youth across the Northeast. Their national Cox Conserves program also aligns with our mission to protect and restore the environment through conservation, cleanups, and community engagement.
Cox Impact Day was a great reminder of what we can accomplish when businesses and nonprofits work together. We’re proud to be part of this network and grateful for the shared commitment to creating a healthier, more connected Rhode Island.
