Leave a lasting impression along the Woonasquatucket River by dedicating a beautiful stainless steel fish. Your personalized River Herring will be a symbol of your commitment to clean water, thriving green spaces, and a sustainable future. Whether honoring a loved one, celebrating a cause, or sharing your passion for the environment, your dedication will inspire all who walk, cycle, and explore the river’s scenic paths.
Each fish is a unique piece of art that becomes part of a larger story—one that connects our community in the shared vision of a vibrant, healthy Woonasquatucket Greenway. Your fish dedication represents more than support—it shows that by working together, we can protect this river and its natural surroundings for generations to come.
All proceeds from your fish dedications directly support our shared commitment to preserve and improve the Woonasquatucket River Greenway.
Manton Pond, located on Goldsmith Street in Johnston, is home to the Manton Pond Dam Nature-Like Fishway, completed in 2017 as part of our fish passage initiative. This fishway allows Atlantic Ocean fish to swim upriver to spawn. It consists of a series of pools and weirs in a concrete channel that mimics a natural stream. Alongside the Fishway, we are building an outdoor classroom to support our environmental education programs. In this beautiful, wooded section of the Greenway, the Woonasquatucket River Rangers are also constructing a nature-based stormwater capture and treatment system to reduce floodwater and pollution entering the river.
Riverside Park, located on Aleppo Street in Providence, was once the site of Riverside Mills, a textile manufacturer. This was our first major restoration project and is now a showcase for our “Nature at Work” green infrastructure installations. The park also features a playground, an outdoor classroom, and the Red Shed, which is home to our bicycle programs.
The Leo Bouchard Conservation Center is located on Waterview Drive in Smithfield, adjacent to Wolf Hill. Located on the Stillwater Reservoir, the center serves as a key location for the WRWC’s environmental education programs in the northern part of the watershed.
What message can I put on the fish?
We suggest keeping your message within 150 characters (though we’ll make it work if you need a few more). Here are some examples from the first group of dedicated fish:
Once you place your fish order, we’ll be in touch to let you know when to expect your fish to be installed along the river.
