Turkey Trot Fun at the Manton Outdoor Classroom

On Friday, November 28, twelve nature lovers, including one adventurous family from Johnston, joined us for our second annual Turkey Trot at the Manton Outdoor Classroom on Goldsmith Street. The crisp November air set the perfect backdrop for a fun, educational walk along the Woonasquatucket Greenway.

Participants explored the rich habitats surrounding the classroom, learned about local wildlife, and even got up close with a soft, spongey new marshmallow polypore. The Manton Outdoor Classroom, with its accessible trails and hands-on learning spaces, made the perfect spot for families and curious minds to connect with nature.

Thanks to our partners at 15 Minute Field Trips, everyone left inspired, informed, and energized—reminded of the amazing discoveries that await right in our own neighborhoods. Whether spotting birds, examining native plants, or simply enjoying the fall scenery together, the Turkey Trot was a celebration of learning, community, and the outdoors.

We can’t wait to see you next year for another stroll through the Greenway and the Manton Outdoor Classroom!
