Standing Up for Climate Funding and Winning
In March, the WRWC led a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture to challenge a freeze on billions in approved infrastructure and climate resilience funds. With your support, we protected nearly a million dollars for our Nuestros Bosques (Our Forests) urban forestry initiative and helped secure critical federal funding for hundreds of organizations across the country.
Today, Nuestros Bosques is transforming neighborhoods across Providence. We are planting trees that protect streambanks, cool our cities, and restore native ecosystems. We are also creating new Miyawaki forests, one of the most effective methods for building forest cover quickly on land that has been degraded through past uses. Working with dedicated partners, we are creating lasting, community-driven change.
