Is there something about the Woonasquatucket River or the work WRWC does that you wish more people understood? What would you like to shout from the rooftops about our mission?

I would like everyone to know that our community programs, Nuevas Voces and Climate Champions, transform people’s lives by empowering them to advocate for themselves and the environment.

What’s an environmental issue close to your heart that you’d love to see the community tackle? Why is this one especially important to you?
¿Cuál es un problema ambiental que te toca el corazón y que te gustaría ver que la comunidad aborde? ¿Por qué es especialmente importante para ti?
One environmental issue that I would like the community to tackle is trash pollution. This issue is close to my heart because when we work as a community, you can see an immediate beautification of the area. Also, this is an activity that I have done with my daughters and we enjoy it.
Un problema ambiental que me gustaría que la comunidad abordara es la contaminación por basura. Este tema me toca el corazón porque cuando trabajamos como comunidad se puede ver una mejora inmediata en la belleza del área. Además, es una actividad que he hecho con mis hijas y disfrutamos mucho.
Do you have a favorite spot along the river or in the watershed? What makes it special to you?
¿Tienes un lugar favorito a lo largo del río o en la cuenca hidrográfica? ¿Qué lo hace especial para ti?
My favorite spot along the river is Riverside Park, because I have many family memories there. We had picnics, walks, bike rides, and canoe rides.
Mi lugar favorito a lo largo del río es Riverside Park, porque tengo muchos recuerdos familiares allí. Hicimos picnic, caminatas, paseos en bicicleta y en canoa.
If you could share one small action with people that would help make a difference for the environment, what would it be?
Si pudieras compartir una pequeña acción con el mundo que ayude a hacer una diferencia por el medio ambiente, ¿cuál sería?
One action people can take to make a big difference for the environment is to use their voice and advocate for the issues that affect them and their environment. Also, to participate whenever possible in activities that promote the beautification of their communities.
Una acción que las personas pueden tomar para marcar una gran diferencia en el medio ambiente es usar su voz y abogar por los temas que les afectan a ellos y a su entorno. Además, participar siempre que sea posible en actividades que promuevan la belleza de sus comunidades.
If you could instantly master any skill or hobby, what would it be?

If I could instantly master a hobby, it would be cooking.

Do you have a favorite plant or tree, or maybe a “green thumb” tip you swear by?

My favorite plant is the corn plant, maybe because I have one that has been with me for 18 years and I love her so much.

Is there an animal (wild or pet) that you feel a special connection to, or one that always makes you smile?

I love wild bunnies because they are just so cute that they melt my heart just by looking at them.

I want people to know that, based on my kids’ opinion, my food is the best in the world.
