Brown University Graduate Students Conduct Environmental Testing in the Woonasquatucket Watershed

On September 3rd, we had the pleasure of hosting a tour for graduate students from Brown University’s Swearer Center for Public Service. These students will be conducting important environmental testing in the Woonasquatucket Watershed, focusing specifically on PFAs.

At our request, the students will coordinate with other local testers to ensure comprehensive data collection. They bring specialized expertise in testing soil and water for metals, making them well-equipped for this work.

One key area of focus will be the Joslin Community Garden, where they will work closely with our Community Action Department to analyze soil conditions. This collaboration will help guide safe and sustainable gardening practices while providing valuable insight into the health of our watershed.

We are excited to support this partnership and look forward to the results of their research, which will contribute to our ongoing efforts to protect and restore the Woonasquatucket River and its surrounding communities.
