Help Create a Community Sculpture for the Woonasquatucket River Greenway
Dates: Saturday, Sept. 20 & 27
Time: 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Location: Goldsmith Street & the Woonasquatucket River Greenway, Johnston, RI
Join the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC) for a hands-on art and environmental project! Johnston residents are invited to help create ceramic charms—shaped like ducks, turtles, and fish—for three new RainKeep sculptures being installed along the Greenway.
The RainKeeps, designed by renowned artist Allison Newsome, collect up to 400 gallons of rainwater to nourish over 2,500 new pollinator plants and shrubs. Volunteers will shape the charms on Sept. 20 and glaze them on Sept. 27—come to one or both sessions. No art experience needed!
“This is a wonderful chance for the community to leave their mark on the Greenway while contributing to a sustainable water system that supports local wildlife,” said Lisa Aurecchia, WRWC Director of Projects.
