The Greenway is for Friends
Meadow Madness at Goldsmith Street
Thousands of native pollinator plants have been installed along the Woonasquatucket River Greenway at Goldsmith Street, creating an exciting new meadow habitat for bees, butterflies, birds, and other wildlife.
Join us once a month at 15 Goldsmith Street in Johnston to explore this evolving landscape, learn about native plants and pollinators, and connect with neighbors who care about the river and Greenway.
During these hands-on community gatherings, you’ll learn why native plants are easier to maintain, discover how meadows change and mature over time, and see how a unique functional sculpture helps water the landscape. You’ll also have the opportunity to lend a hand caring for the site, meet fellow community members, and spend time outdoors along the river.
Whether you’re curious about pollinator gardens, interested in local ecology, or simply looking for a fun way to connect with your community, there’s a place for you at the Goldsmith Friends Group.
We gather rain or shine unless extreme weather requires cancellation. Please dress for outdoor conditions and wear closed-toe shoes. Feel free to bring water and a snack. All tools and materials will be provided.
