Join the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC) as we suit up and wade into the river to track its vibrant fish population! This hands-on citizen science event uses electrofishing, a widely used survey method, to help us understand the health of this critical urban wildlife corridor.
Electrofishing temporarily stuns fish using a mild electric current, allowing us to safely capture, identify, measure, and catalog them before releasing them unharmed.
By gathering data on species and sizes, we gain valuable insights into the riverโs health โ and why itโs so worth protecting. This is a great opportunity to observe the hidden life of the Woonasquatucket up close and learn how we can restore and care for our river together!
