Congratulations to Central Providence Unidos on Their Bold, Community-Driven Road Map Launch
The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC) is proud to congratulate ONE Neighborhood Builders (ONB) on the exciting launch of their updated Road Map, now rebranded as Central Providence Unidos!
On May 15, 2025, community members, partners, and leaders gathered at Farm Fresh Rhode Island to celebrate this major milestone. The event showcased not just a new name, logo, and website—but a renewed commitment to health equity, economic opportunity, and racial justice in Central Providence.
As part of Rhode Island’s innovative Health Equity Zone (HEZ) initiative, Central Providence Unidos has grown from serving a single neighborhood to engaging nine diverse communities, all united by a shared vision: addressing the root causes of health and economic disparities. The updated Road Map more explicitly centers racial equity, community leadership, and collective action, drawing from lessons learned and setting a bold course for the years ahead.
Rebekah Greenwald, WRWC’s Director of Grants, reflected on the evening:
“I found the event very inspiring, especially getting to see all the excitement and happy faces of the folks who have worked so hard to transform this plan through a community-facing, community-centered, and community-forward process. My only regret is I didn’t get a chance to tuft the community rug being made on site! I look forward to many opportunities for collective creation and collective action to come though!”
