Last week, the we proudly celebrated the successful completion of the 2024 Red Shed Bike Camp. Over 80 young people ages 8-13 completed the program this season. Our graduation event, held on Friday, August 16th, was a heartwarming gathering of campers, their families, our dedicated staff, enthusiastic volunteers, and supportive partners. The afternoon was filled with delicious snacks, lively music, and inspiring stories from campers who shared their experiences at the microphone. It was truly a joyous tribute to the accomplishments of these remarkable young riders.
A Unique Summer Experience
Red Shed Bike Camp offers a distinctive summer program that merges biking adventures with valuable education on safe riding, bike maintenance, and watershed stewardship. Our mission is to cultivate a new generation of confident, skilled, and environmentally conscious riders while ensuring that the program remains accessible to all. With the expert guidance of our instructors, campers developed essential biking skills, including safe signaling and predictable riding.
Exploring Scenic Routes
Throughout the season, our campers embarked on daily rides, covering a total of 25 miles across various scenic locations such as Riverside Park, the Skate Park, Adventure Park, Merino Park, and the Manton Fish Ladder. Their journeys not only enhanced their biking abilities but also deepened their appreciation for the natural beauty of the Woonasquatucket River Greenway.
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on the success of this season, we eagerly look forward to the future of Red Shed Bike Camp. Our commitment to empowering young riders with essential biking skills and environmental awareness will continue, with a sustained focus on making the program accessible to all.
Thank you to everyone who joined us last week to celebrate the achievements of our campers. Your support and involvement made the event a memorable conclusion to a fantastic season.
