This past Saturday, runners gathered at Riverside Park for an afternoon of connection and movement. The event, organized by community member Isaac Rubinstein, was a response to an incident earlier this month that highlighted the importance of ensuring the Woonasquatucket River Greenway remains a safe and enjoyable space for all.

Isaac shared his experience of being physically assaulted while jogging on the Greenway. In response, he channeled the overwhelming community support into a Fun Run, bringing neighbors and community members together. Runners and walkers from Providence, Cranston, Johnston and beyond showed up in large numbers to support Isaac and celebrate their shared love of the outdoors.

The run highlighted the community’s resilience and the supportive spirit of our neighbors. Participants walked, jogged, and enjoyed coffee while connecting with one another and taking in the beauty of the Woonasquatucket River Greenway. You might have even spotted a Giant Frog! (Thanks Big Nazo <3 )

We want to extend our deepest thanks to Isaac for organizing the run and to all the neighbors and community members who came out to support and uplift one another. Your presence embodies the values of safety, care, and connection that make the Woonasquatucket River Greenway such a special place.

The Greenway isn’t just a trail—it’s a space where community comes together. By looking out for one another and showing up for moments like this, we keep it safe, welcoming, and connected—a place where everyone can enjoy nature and strengthen what makes our community thrive.

Thank you, runners, for showing the power of community. And thank you, Isaac, for turning a challenging moment into an opportunity for growth, connection, and joy.
