A Legacy of Stewardship

The River Rangers program has been a cornerstone of WRWC’s mission since 1999, when it began as a summer job program for local youth. Over the years, it has grown into a professional environmental team that keeps the Greenway thriving year-round. In 2014, WRWC partnered with RI DOT to maintain the bike path—the only program of its kind in Rhode Island!

Each year, the WRWC hires and trains a new team of Rangers who gain professional, technical, and personal skills that empower them to become lifelong environmental advocates. Support from donors and community partners ensures that we can continue this vital work for years to come.
