Celebrating Arbor Day and Growing Rhode Island’s Urban Forest

We were honored to join the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and partners across the state in celebrating Rhode Island’s 129th Arbor Day, and to be recognized as a recipient of both Urban and Community Forestry and Tree Equity RI funding.

These investments support critical work to grow and care for our urban forest, from tree planting to hands-on training that builds local skills and long-term stewardship. At the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council, this funding will help us expand tree planting in Providence and continue workforce development through our Nuestros Bosques Tree Rangers and River Rangers.

We’re proud to be in such strong company and congratulate fellow recipients including Groundwork Rhode Island, Providence Neighborhood Planting Program, Newport Tree Conservancy, and the many municipalities advancing urban forestry across Rhode Island.

Thank you to DEM, our partners, and everyone working to grow a greener, more resilient future.
