Fish Fun(d) 2025: A Fin-Tastic Night for the Woonasquatucket
On Thursday, August 14, more than 200 people joined us at the second annual Fish Fun(d) celebration at Farm Fresh Rhode Island. Thanks to ALL Y’ALL and your collective generosity (plus many others who contributed from afar), we raised nearly $34,000 to make the Woonasquatucket River and Greenway greener, safer, and even more awesome for everyone.
This year’s Fish Fun(d) showed us just how powerful your support is. Now we’re asking everyone to help keep the momentum swimming forward. Our goal is $50,000 total for Fish Fun(d) 2025. Every dollar makes a difference right now, powering our fall programs and projects while moving us closer to our long-term goals. [Donate today to keep us going strong »]
Thank You to Our Community
We’re so grateful to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, and cheered us on. You made this night a joyful, fishy celebration of community and the river.
Shoutouts to Angus for flowers, our three musketeer interns Elliot, Henry, and Micah (for everything), Nicole on raffle, Sam on photos and Andrew for the camera, Donny, Phil, and Brandon on bikes, Violet and Jill on money magic, Chris for making really cool videos and writing really cool blog posts, and of course Colleen for keeping us all on track.
Special thanks to our sponsors Washington Trust, GZA, EC Restore, and Troutman Pepper Locke, whose support made the party possible. And to State Representative and WRWC Community Action Director David Morales, who once again proved he’s the best MC in the world (plus doesn’t he just have like the best suits!?)
Costume Contest Highlights
This year’s wacky summer costume contest, sponsored by EC Restore, was a showstopper. Congratulations to our overall winners, created and worn by Carla Doughty and Li Casani, who wowed the crowd head-to-toe as a trash monster and companion trash picker! And big cheers to Layla, our staff winner, for their creative “Rangler” (Ranger Angler) look. Huge thanks to our fin-tastic judges. Your job was not easy with so many creative costumes in the pool.
Raffle Basket Winners
Congrats to the winners of our Go Fish, Go Fresh, and Go Fun raffle baskets, Melissa Guillet, the Haggerty Family, and Shampagne Robinson! With hundreds of local businesses and groups pitching in, these prize bundles were truly incredible. From food to art to outdoor adventures, the baskets showed off the best of Rhode Island. Big thanks to the many local businesses whose donations made the raffle amazing.
Music, Food, and Fun
The party vibes were flowing thanks to DJ Thirsty, The Moonbellies, and the Extraordinary Rendition Band, who brought the music and the energy all night long.
We feasted on amazing farm-fresh fare from Harvest Kitchen, sipped signature drinks from New Harvest Coffee & Spirits, and treated ourselves to Gather Ice Cream’s exclusive Woonasquatucket flavors (Fish & Chips and Where the Saltwater Ends). Don’t forget, you can still scoop them up throughout August, with sales supporting WRWC! You can find Gather’s scoop shop at 521 Atwells in Providence).
And of course, a huge thank you to Farm Fresh Rhode Island, our wonderful hosts, for opening their doors to host the Fish Fun(d).
