Community Engagement Coordinator

WRWC seeks native Spanish language speaker active on the frontlines of the Green Justice Movement to lead our community efforts. Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish and community organizing experience required. The Community Engagement Coordinator is a vital team member integrating neighborhood residents with our work and helping WRWC become a better vehicle for community problem solving, with special focus on the black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) communities we serve. The CEC also works closely with WRWC’s New Voices/Nuevas Voces Program and recreation initiatives to help resident leaders generate climate preparedness, community resilience and fun. The CEC will empower health and promote events and opportunities engaging all watershed assets for community use. The CEC works from within the communities most impacted by climate change and other environmental issues to guide current and future efforts of the WRWC.

English/Spanish Translator/Interpreter

WRWC seeks a Translator/Interpreter fluent in Spanish to join our team. The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC) Translator/Interpreter is a vital team member responsible for listening to, understanding, and translating spoken or written statements from Spanish to English and English to Spanish to facilitate comfort and inclusion among community residents in the work our organization.

Senior Civil or Environmental Engineer

The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC) seeks a Senior Civil or Environmental Engineer to join our Woonasquatucket River Greenway Team (WRGT). This position will involve working on planning, design, permitting, and construction administration for a range projects related to the Woonasquatucket River Greenway expansion in Providence and Smithfield. An example of this is to help complete the final design and engineering for the Woonasquatucket River Greenway signage and landscape program. They will assist with the request for proposals and provide project oversite for installation and fabrication of Gateway signage for the Providence and Johnston portion of the greenway.

River Ranger

The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC) is seeking individuals with experience or interest in landscaping and maintenance, and strong people skills. River Rangers & Jr. Rangers work with volunteer groups to maintain the parks and bike path along Woonasquatucket River Greenway. Tasks include operating a stand up mower, line trimming, weeding and mulching, brush cutting, litter pick up, watering plants, sweeping, raking, river clean ups, tree pruning, fence repair, graffiti removal, and more (based on age and experience). River Rangers are stewards of the Greenway and are responsible for greeting people in the community and encouraging the appropriate use of this beloved outdoor space.

Green Infrastructure Steward 

The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council is seeking motivated individuals (24 hrs per week) to learn and perform Green infrastructure maintenance, conduct landscape care, and lead community events. Applicants should have a general knowledge of landscaping procedures and are encouraged to have an interest in the environment. Daily tasks will include operating a mower, line trimming, weeding, mulching, litter pick up, planting, watering, tree pruning, invasive plant management, perennial care, and general green infrastructure maintenance. This team will be working in conjunction with River Rangers to improve and install new green spaces within the Woonasquatucket River Watershed.
