On Tuesday, November 22, the City Council Finance Commission approved a measure to allow the city of Providence to borrow $1 million to develop Total Maximum Daily Load Implementation Plans for several waterways. These waterways include Mashpaug Pond, Roger Williams Park Pond, the Woonasquatucket River, and West River, in efforts to improve water quality. The implementation plans would set a limit for the amount of pollution allowed to enter the waterways and create action steps with a timeline to accomplish specific goals.
