Statewide In-School Bike Education Program
Founded in 2019, The Rhode to Bicycle Safety (R2BS) is a program of the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation. R2BS empowers 5th-grade students across Rhode Island with the skills and confidence to safely ride their bikes—for transportation, exercise, and fun.
Each year, R2BS reaches over 1,000 students through a comprehensive 180-minute course, delivered in four sessions during regular school hours. The program blends classroom learning with on-bike instruction, ensuring students gain practical, real-world cycling experience in a safe environment.
R2BS is available at no cost to schools, and we provide all necessary equipment, including bicycles and helmets.
Interested in bringing R2BS to your school? We’re always looking for new partners! Contact Donny Green at dgreen@wrwc.org to learn more.
