Paddle and Swim at Georgiaville Pond: Cool off and unwind on this paddle on Georgiaville Pond in Smithfield. We’ll launch from the historic Smith-Appleby House and make our way to the town beach, where participants are invited to take a refreshing swim or a short hike to the Georgiaville Pond dam.
- The WRWC provides canoes, kayaks, paddles and life jackets.
- All skill levels are welcome.
- Children are welcome, if accompanied by an adult.
- Trips typically last approximately 2 hours, depending on location.
- All participants must wear a life jacket (PFD), even if you bring your own boat.
Sliding Scale Cost
- We use a sliding scale pricing model. The lowest end covers our basic costs, while the higher end helps support our work and makes our programming more accessible to more communities.
$30 – 50 – rent of solo kayaks
$50 – 70 – two-person canoe
$15 – 35 – Bring Your Own Boat per person
What to bring:
- Wearable Coast Guard approved PFD
- Comfortable clothes to canoe/kayak in, including either boots or shoes that can get wet. The best clothes to wear are things that dry quickly if they get wet (e.g., nylon rather than cotton).
- A sweater or jacket in case you get cold.
- Insect repellent and sunscreen
- Rain gear if there is a chance of showers. Serious rain will cancel the paddle.
- Drinking water.
- Put anything that you want to stay dry in a dry bag or a heavy plastic bag. Remember that electronic car keys do not like getting wet!
