The Providence Place Mall in downtown Providence goes right over the Woonasquatucket River. Looking out the windows on either side of the mall you are looking up and down the river. Now you can stand at the windows overlooking Waterplace Park and read about the river’s wildlife and history, and read about the work the Watershed Council is doing to protect and restore the river!

Thanks to funding from The Rhode Island Rivers Council and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, graphic design work by Jason Tranchida of Llama Product, and support from General Growth Properties, the owners of Providence Place, five panels have been installed on Level 1 of the mall, on the downtown side of the mall at the windows overlooking the the river and Waterplace Park. The five panels are shown below. Click on any of them to see a larger view of the sign. These are fairly large images so they will take a little while to download. At first they may look fuzzy because they download progressively but if you wait a little while they should get sharper. To get back to this page, use your browser’s back button.
