Hey there, future bike enthusiasts!

We’re pumped to announce that registration is officially open for our 2025 Red Shed Bike Camp at the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC)! If you’ve got a kiddo aged 8-13 who loves to ride (or wants to learn), this is the camp for them.

Picture this: a whole week spent cruising along the beautiful Woonasquatucket River Greenway, biking with new friends, learning to take care of their bike, and gaining confidence in a fun and safe environment. It’s not just about biking – it’s about getting outside, exploring nature, and connecting with the river and the parks around us.

Why WRWC Red Shed Bike Camp?

At WRWC, we do things a little differently. Our Bike Camp is all about learning the ropes of riding safely, fixing up your bike, and discovering how to be a steward of the environment. Our goal is to give kids more than just biking skills – we want them to build a deeper connection with nature, with the river, and with the local parks. It’s an experience that’ll stick with them long after the bikes are put away for the season.

By the end of the week, campers won’t just have some sweet new biking skills – they’ll have a whole new appreciation for the beauty of our riverside parks, the importance of keeping our environment healthy, and the joy of spending time outdoors.

Why It Matters: Nature, Bikes, and the River

This camp isn’t just about bikes – it’s about connecting with nature and understanding why it’s important to take care of our local environment. As kids bike along the Woonasquatucket River Greenway, they’ll learn about the river, the parks, and the natural world around them.

“Biking gives kids the chance to be outside, explore, and get to know their community in a way they never have before,” said Donny Green, WRWC’s Bike Education Director. “We’re not just teaching them how to ride a bike – we’re showing them how to be stewards of the environment, so they can protect what they love.”
