The Return Home by Gillian Christy.
Location: Pedestrian Bridge near Bath Street and Promenade St.

On Earth Day, we’re looking for many volunteers (big teams welcome along with individuals and families) to clean the Woonasquatucket River and surrounding land along Promenade and Kinsley Streets in Providence. We will be putting on waders and getting in boats for an extensive in-water cleanup, painting guard rails and benches, and planting trees.

Location: We will be meeting on the Bath Street Pedestrian Bridge to check in, which is located at 377 Promenade St, Providence RI 02908. Look for the beautiful “The Return Home” circular silver sculpture. There will be parking available at the IHOP located at 45 Pleasant Valley Pkwy, Providence, RI 02908. You may also park on Bath Street and other nearby side streets.

Date: Monday, April 22, 10 am-2 pm. Please attend for as long as you like. We are prepared to welcome you at any time. There’s plenty of work for everyone!

Other Information: You can help us with one of four activities: tree planting, litter sweeps, in-water trash removal, and painting the rails that run along the river. We will provide the necessary tools and equipment that you will need. We recommend wearing clothing you can get dirty or wouldn’t mind getting paint on.

Restrooms will be available at the Rhode Island Blood Center (405 Promenade St, Providence, RI 02908) and Neon Marketplace (288 Kinsley Ave, Providence, RI 02903).

We will have water and other beverages available, along with some light snacks. For those who are planning to spend the entire Clean Day with us, we suggest bringing lunch, or you can take a break and grab lunch at a nearby restaurant.

If you’d like to invite others, please ask them to register for the event below. Please note that people under age 18 must have waivers signed by parents/guardians to participate. We will have waivers on site as needed.
