As part of a $30,000 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council will be expanding its Nuevas Voces program, a community-led program that seeks to empower Olneyville community members through climate resilience and environmental leadership.

The WRWC was one of six Rhode Island recipients awarded funding through the EPA’s Healthy Communities grant program, which totaled $191,000. This funding was provided through the grant program in order to help neighborhoods that have been disproportionately affected by pollution, environmental harm, and the impacts of climate change.

The WRWC would like to thank EPA Regional Administrator David Cash, U.S. Senator Jack Reed, and Nuevas Voces members for their dedication and support to educating and empowering communities about environmental justice.
