Mowry Conservation Area, with its picturesque footbridge over a burbling stream, is the perfect place to escape holiday stress.
The bridge over the Woonasquatucket River in the Mowry Conservation Area is the centerpiece of one of the most peaceful and picturesque settings I’ve come across while hiking around Rhode Island.
The arched footbridge sits at the base of a natural bowl shaped by ledges and a hill on one side and a long, gradual slope on the other. Pine, hemlock and oak trees tower over the preserve, which is covered with leaves and soft pine needles.
